Bio [English]:

Sly Masmeijer [1976, Utrecht, The Netherlands] started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil. Since the 80’s he has been interested in a diversity of drawing styles. Think skateboard visuals, record covers by his favorite hardrock bands and cartoons. As a kid he spend a lot of time drawing and finding inspiration for his illustrations. At 16, the choice was easy to attend Graphic Design School in Utrecht after which he started working at advertising agencies and design companies. In this period he also became more and more interested in graphic design and typography and especially incorporating his illustrations into this.

Since he always has been a fan of music (especially 80’s pop, punk, hardcore and metal) he started selling his designs to bands and concert venues and created a lot of t-shirt designs, record covers and concert posters as a result. In the meantime he also discovers a lot of underground illustrators and styles and becomes a big fan of the lowbrow art scene.

His style keeps developing and Sly discovers the use of a lot of new materials and (also digital) techniques to expose his creativity.

The past 10 years Sly has designed shirts for bands such as No Turning Back, De Heideroosjes, Snot, Peter Pan Speedrock, Strike First, Colossa and (hed)p.e. and has designed many many posters for De Goudvishal, Reflections Records, 013, Amsterdam Underground Collective, Patronaat and many others. This however is just a small selection of his extensive portfolio.
